It's World Head and Neck Cancer Day

World Head and Neck Cancer Day is held on 27 July each year. Today is the perfect opportunity for dentists to ask patients about tobacco use and alcohol consumption - major risk factors for oral cancer. Start the conversation because it can almost double a person’s chance of successfully quitting smoking. Check out the new Oral Cancer Learning Hub for outstanding resources to assist dentists.

In Australia there has been a 34% increase in head and neck cancer in the last 10 years. Unlike other more common cancers, there is currently no funding from the Federal Government to support head and neck cancer prevention and patient care. We can all help reduce the cancer burden in some of the most disenfranchised cancer patients through donations, hosting an fundraising event or contacting your Federal Member of Parliament, asking them to do more for people affected by Head and Neck Cancer.
